Encounter Bay is the perfect spot for a family holiday, miles of beautiful beach and the attractions of Victor Harbor, McLaren Vale the Bluff and coastal walks just minutes away.

Steeped in history, Encounter Bay was named by Matthew Flinders after his encounter with Nicolas Baudin, both of whom were charting the Australian coastline for their respective countries (Britain and France). The encounter between the scientists was peaceful, even though their countries were at war at the time.

Visit The South Coast's pubs and restaurants or sit back on the balcony and relax with a local beer or wine (or two). Just one hour from Adelaide, Encounter Bay will make you feel so relaxed you could be a million miles away
